Please explore my Galleries, realizing that these are all original artworks which cannot be repeated.  Their inspiration comes about in a spontaneous way at a certain point in my day, in my life.  They are created as  I react to the life and the stimuli around me.  I hope you enjoy these creations.

Natural Wonders

Many of the natural scenes or details thereof - botanicals, landscapes - which I paint are created outside, en plein air, in pastel or oil. I get immersed in the leaves, grasses, trees and breezes. I feel the location, including the earth, the vegetation, the air movements, the scents, and the temperature. These all contribute to the composition, format, and type of painting I ultimately create. Much, but not all of my latest works, have become more graphic and much more boldly colorful.

Abstractions

There are times in my day when I feel very intuitive and that's often when I create abstractions, often in collage. It is a fun and refreshing experience, which allows me to use special items which I have saved in boxes around my studio, or using colors I love.

Floral

Now and then, I return to sharp, detailed work which demands more patience than some of my more intuitive works. It is a refreshing change now and then. However, most of my florals are quite loose and vibrant.

Architectural

Whether realistic or abstracted, architectural paintings are fun to execute. A knowledge of perspective, or a feel for it, are quite helpful. I mostly paint buildings or cottages which are falling down, splitting apart, or just being more textural.

Africa

After an amazing trip to Tanzania, I was fascinated by the cottages, or huts, in which the Maasai tribal members lived. Since I was there in October, it was the end of the dry season, so there wasn't any mud with which to repair their cottages, even though all ground was dirt. There had not been rain in months and most villages had no dependable source of water. So, every year, once the rainy season starts in January, these cottages would be repaired with mud, cow dung, and sticks. I was fascinated with the textures, the natural colors and the linear effects of the sticks and grasses.
